Article reminded me of a SF novella by C.M. Kornbluth "The Marching Morons."

In the case of engine sounds coming through the speakers I'm wondering if they do with the stereo off.

I see a market emerging, as word of this gets around. It will be 'the return of the glasspack' for drivers seeking autnenticity.

This is like a gimmick used in home theaters. A good friend who is quite a bit into HT has additional subs called the "butt-kicker" (IIRC). They are simply a vibratory module that is mounted to the underside of the platform on which the theater seats are bolted on (fake platform).

Guessing the real LF signals not heard by the human ear are translated into mechanical energy. Great for earthquakes, thunder and lightning.

I bought a second hand British Ford Zephyr years back. Some moron had put a glass-pack on it. I stopped at the muffler shop on the way home.
