Fast Food Strikes................?

http://news.msn.com/us/more-fast-foo...ies-nationwide

Personally, I don't see why anyone would want to flip burgers as a career.

However, this country is failing to produce good paying jobs that people can actually like, pay bills with. I know it sounds crazy to some folks, but believe it or not, we work to do things like eat and pay the light bill.

Oh, we are creating jobs, but for the most part they SUCK in regards to the quality of employment. And, NO ONE is to blame for that but the people who pay the wages. I know some of you like the idea of a hungry and servile workforce for whatever sick minded reason that apparently makes sense to you, but escapes me.

At any rate I'm glad to see someone is finally standing up to the employers and their sorry, self-serving bullshit.

Have a Great Day!

Dave

As someone who never eats that chit, I really couldn't care less whether fast food places strike or get more expensive.

Are they bringing torches and pitchforks? If not they might as well stay home.

Yeah, I know, Guys. Probably won't really end up being any sort of great movement, but at least it's demonstrating some of the very real frustration going on out here. Already, a local DJ was ranting all the usual, "So get a second job!", "So get an education."......blah, blah. All the tired old clichés that ignore certain facts like, many of these folks may already have two jobs or live in economically depressed areas where there are no other jobs, etc., etc. There are myriad reasons why people end up stuck in certain lines of work.

It's not always as simple as "Go get a job, you bum!". I'm sorry, but I believe as people are left fewer options, they will become restless and easily agitated.

If the powers that be want to avoid this sort of thing, then they had better start working towards creating a more broad spectrum of gainful employment. To say, "Okay, from now on you will need a four year degree in a high tech field or you're just f**ked and that's it." isn't going to lead anywhere but a boatload of serious problems. Count on it.

I love the argument that the jobs in fast food are majority teenagers. Kids still at home. Well not around here, most in the restaurants have an average age in the forties. There because of job loss and only thing they could find. Anyone see CNN's Inside Man this week on Union's? They hit on this very subject.
