Well it's another case of our 2nd amendment at work, Ms. Boebert. Waiting for the gut wrenching plea for "thoughts and prayers" from the right.

Since this latest massacre of six and seven year olds, I've seen it asked here and there around the internet "what is this country coming to?" We know good and goddamn well why our country is coming to this. And it's not about mental illness as the cons continue to want to peg it. There are just as many crazy people per capita in the UK as we have. And our firearms homicide rate is 40 times the rate in the UK. 40 FUCKING TIMES. After their first mass school shooting in Dunblane Scotland in 1996, it took the Brits a year to outlaw possession of anything but long barreled, non-automatic hunting rifles and shotguns. And now our gun homicide rate is 40 times theirs.

It came to this when we didn't do jack shit after Charles Whitman shot up the University of Texas in 1966, or when we didn't do jack shit after Columbine for christ's sake.

The rate in El Salvador is 400 Fucking Times higher than the UK.

They move here because it's peaceful.

Maybe y'all should move.

Love it or leave, eh Spiro???

Maybe, we will move. The blonde has dual US/Ireland citizenship. So when it gets bad enough in this shithole...and we aren't quite there yet...we will possibly utilize it. Thinking Dublin (she has 40 or 50 first cousins in Ireland) Copenhagen, or Amsterdam, or perhaps even Malmo, Sweden...I have a half-brother there.

Meantime...we are all aware that there are more dangerous places to live than US cities like Detroit, Birmingham, Baltimore or Gary. Third world countries with cities like Juarez, Kabul, Port Moresby, and yes, San Salvador come immediately to mind. Maybe you and I could have a little chat about just how the interference by this country in the government of El Salvador was the cause of the problems that still exist in El Salvador.

But the discussion of comparative firearms homicide rates, has always been amongst first world countries...y'know countries like the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, the UK, France, Germany, Switzerland, and the Scandinavian countries to name a few. Democracies...not dictatorships.

It's the Trumpers like you who always want to compare apples with oranges...it's why you always end up sounding so fucking stupid.

If I'm such a simple man, it seems like you could keep track of what I post on this forum. I'm no where close to being a Trumper.

The comparative rates I mentioned came from the link YOU provided, I didn't realize the discussion had somehow been limited to first world countries only.

In fact it wasn't until now. Your significant other, "The Blonde", probably doesn't stand much of a chance talking back to you.

We don't need more legislative control in the country, IMHO. Relying on the authorities upstairs is what kept police sitting outside the school for an hour while some asshole went around shooting those children.

The people 'at the top' are not good people.

Blah...blah. Do you vote republican? Your party is corrupted. You're a Trumper. You say you don't vote republican...I don't believe it for a nanosecond.

The only country I referenced for comparison was the UK. It's a first world country. Pay attention.

Populists are worse people. Right-wing populist the worst of all.

What do mean, vote ? In presidential elections in Kansas? It's automatic Republican.

Vote for the local sheriff ? Again, automatic Republican, and it's a hereditary position. The under Sheriff is the Sheriff's son. He lives three doors down from me.

I'm registered unaffiliated.

I thought Chicks was the most arrogant bloke I've ever corresponded with; you take the cake.

"Registered unaffilated" is a chickenshit answer.

Who fucking cares how you're registered? You voted for Trump. It makes you a seditionist Trumper. He got your vote, nobody gives a shit about what you say you think of him.

I thought Not Insane was the most spineless nitwit on this forum...you have proven me wrong.

As more and more information come out on this, the more it looks like this tragedy was heavily exacerbated by police leadership in the town where it happened.

There will always be bad actors. That is why we have police. But when the police don't actually "serve and protect", we have a different problem. I've said for years, parroting the words of another man with direct experience with the police - They are just secretaries with guns. And I'll add this: As demonstrated at this shooting, the police are not there to protect you. They are there to find out who did it. The person responsible for protecting you is YOU.

And in this case, they even stopped parents from entering to try to protect their own kids. Now, if the police were doing what we all THOUGHT was their job, that action would be correct, except they clearly were not. They didn't help, and stopped others from helping. Even one of their own was stopped from trying to save his own wife. This event is appalling.
