However, when they did find out we were never harrangued or made to feel unwelcome.

I spent two weeks in Cannes, France back in the eighties. I had a wonderful time. One of my friends complained constantly that the French were rude and dissmissive towards him. The difference was that I attempted to speak to them in FRENCH. I don't speak French, all I had was one of those "pocket translator" books. But, the simple fact that I tried to speak the language made all of the difference. My friend preferred to speak LOUD AND SLOW, in English with a thick Texas accent, and then mumble about what "dumbasses" the French were 'cuz they couldn't understand him.

Many muslims may hate us but that is because they hate Christians and Jews because we are infidels in their eyes. Of course they still want to immigarte here, 'tis a puzzlement as the King said.
Correct. Many of them hate us, and many of us hate them-----because of religion and the 1,300 year old history of violence between Judeo-Christian Society and Islam. And I'll leave it at that.

Precisely. I think. Wait a minute, let me go get my Redneck Pocket Translator.

We carpetbombed Germany and Japan. We are uncivilized? Again, I'm not saying not to be careful....

Dresden was pure retaliation for Coventry, and as it turned out Coventry was pilot error

We don't NEED them to be democracies, just not hostile.

That is not the point, Boosh changed the title when he found no WMD, claiming we were going to make Iraq into a democracy

I agree with your comments regarding treatment in other countries. I was in England right after we hit Saddam and although there were posters etc all over the place no one insulted me. Just the same, if people think we're thugs that's their problem.

They're wrong about the people and the government being two different things though, unless we're not a representative democracy.
There have been times when I have wondered and sincerely prayed that the gummint did not represent us
