Since the revised tax tables didn't take effect until Feb 1, folks paid weekly and folks paid semi-monthly current would likely be the only folks who would have received a paycheck taxed using the new tax tables during the time the survey was conducted. The survey would likely not have included folks who were paid under semi-monthly in arrears, biweekly in arrears, and monthly payroll schedules. That's a pretty damn big swath of folks who would not yet have received a paycheck yet under the new tax tables.
The survey results can't help but be skewed as a result.
I'm included in that group, by the way, that hasn't received a paycheck yet that would have been taxed under the new tax tables. I won't receive my first check under the new tables until Friday. I'll be able to see it electronically tomorrow. I'll let you know if the change is noticeable or not.
