Ukraine War Will End With Negotiations.

From https://foreignaffairs.com/ukraine/u...d-negotiations

-If the administration does not prepare soon, it may find its carefully calibrated response to war being overtaken by a dangerous fantasy of absolute victory.

At the same time, the economic fallout of the war is rapidly growing.

All this makes the administration's position - that Kyiv alone will decide when the war ends - increasingly untenable.

Like Stalin or Hitler, Putin is not someone you can negotiate with (or trust that he'll adhere to any agreement).

There will be peace in Ukraine when there are no more Russian soldiers on Ukrainian soil to kill.

Appeasing an avaricious tyrant is an untenable strategy.
Ukraine isn't a buffet for conquest by invasion, it's a sovereign country with it's own identity and international recognition.
Russia agreed to guarantee its sovereign security in return for surrendering custody of nuclear weapons capabilities.

Putin is like a school shooter. He will never turn back. He will kill until he is killed. Or until, cornered, he shoots himself.

You do not know their mission actually, do you? I read they are 'garrisoning an airbase.' There doubtless are various contingencies that might call for their employment one way or another. I don't think a Russian march through Odessa is the most likely one. One obvious purpose at the moment is a symbolic assurance of support to Romania. Romania is a key conduit of logistics to Ukraine, and we want to reassure them as they carry on in this vital role.

You are of course insinuating that Ukraine is not actually having success in compelling a Russian retreat from Kherson. We'll see.

What do we know? We do not know anything...we can only make guesses, hopefully not wild. Expect lot of the news on anything relating to Ukraine to contain serious misinformation/disinformation.

BTW I grew up surrounded with the 101 airborne; from comics to books to cinema to tv, plus a good friend was a member of the outfit. We use to call him "Nuts".

Additionally, the 101 was constitutionally solid. I remembered Ike sending members of the division to Little Rock, Arkansas when the national guards prevent the "Little Rock Nine" from going to school.

A Russian retreat could be tactical. Do the Russians suspect that Ukraine might want to throw everything at Kherson for headline reasons at this time of elections. The US is economically stressed, and its people are anxious; the large transfer of funds has to be justified.

What is basic is that the Russian strategic envelope would still be intact.
