This August 13, Fidel Castro Ruz, leader of the Cuban Revolution and international inspiration for people struggling for a better world, turned 90. His age alone is a remarkable achievement, considering more than 630 documented assassination attempts on his life by the CIA and other nefarious agencies.

Despite the enormous historical impact that Fidel Castro has had in Cuba and Latin America for more than 55 years, it is astounding that his voice has never been heard nor his words widely known by the people of the United States.

But Fidel’s legendary life of revolution is certainly noted elsewhere. All this year in Cuba, and around the world as his birthday approaches, there are countless activities to celebrate his life.

It is a shame that Fidel Castro’s life and his audacity in defeating a bloody dictatorship to then build so************************m, is hardly known by the American people. They would find a man of enormous courage and humanity who delivered his country from a neo-colonial status to a sovereign country with a major imprint on the world stage.

However, I would also like to point out the mobs of greedy, sometimes violent Americans pushing, shoving and in some cases beating the shit out of each other over sales prices and suggest that not all is wonderful about our system, either. We have become far too aggressive in our selfish materialism. I like my toys. But, I'm not beating anyone down for a few bucks off a flat screen.

I hate stores. I hate shopping. I wouldn't be caught out on Black Friday if you paid me. They could turn every big box into distribution warehouses and do solely home delivery and it'd be just fine with me.
People are idiots, hung up on material things, as you said. As they age, some of them will figure it out. Note you don't see a lot of folks over 40 engaging in this crap.

I got a black Friday deal on a couple of those Ancestry.com DNA kits.

They had them on sale for $69 bucks instead of the usual $99.

Ordered them over the internet while sitting at my kitchen table.

I avoid stores as much as possible from Mid November to after New Years.
