Nay, from a 'golden age,' though the news often had slants and angles in those days too. But seldom in those times were blatant liars platformed on wide-audience media like they are now. McCarthy era an exception, but that was early days of TV, they evolved away from that. Maybe the current media can do that too.

Say, you're a Christian I believe? Ever check out Revelation 21:8? Note that liars are called-out there. The author seems to have viewed liars as among the very worst!

For the sake of our republic there has to be a way to shut them down. Their purpose is not to convey news but to carry out said radicalization on the behalf of the GQP.

They sorted user data into 5 categories of partisanship, from far left to far right. They looked at how much each group engaged with disinformation providers on FB. All the other groups tended to reject disinformation, but the far right embraced it. They engaged with disinformation providers A LOT MORE than with more reliable sources.

Either there's something different about far-right users, or there's something different about their media environment. Either way, Facebook is involved up to their digital necks because their system gives any user more of what they engage with.

Disinformation is harmful. It should be stopped. Facebook functions to promote it.

In this country we have a Faux News* problem. Actively promoting propaganda directed against the duly elected government of the United States. Free Speech doesn't cover it, or shouldn't.

Yes, and it's unfortunate for our country that Fox News has descended even deeper into the cesspool of right wing disinformation and lies since Joe Biden was elected president and the Dems took control of the Senate.
