Python kills toddler.
More fresh meat.
Now what kind of cretin would let a 9' python crawl around a house with a 2 yr old? As far as that goes, just what specific type of weirdo would EVEN want a damn slimy snake for a pet?
Even I quit kissin' rattlers after I was excommunicated from the Jehovah's Witnesses. To Hell with them.
Warm and fuzzy, that's what I like,

Yeah, you really can't get too mad at the snake...It was just doing what Pythons are SUPPOSED to do... It saw a Target of Opportunity for a nice meal, & acted accordingly...

You've got a point, the snake did everything right. It was the dumbass who left the snake alone in the house with a 2 yr old who did everything wrong.
Personally, I don't think I could go to sleep knowing there was a 9 foot snake in the house with me. I'd feel safer with a pack of wolves.

What do you think should be done to the owner of the snake?
reckless endangerment ?
it's an accident?

1st thing I'd do is take his damn snake away from him, and ban him from owning another. If he wants a pet, he can get a cocker spaniel. Or a parakeet.
From what I've read, he was required by law to keep his snake locked in a cage. No doubt is was an accident, I'll leave any punishment to the local authorities.

From what I understand, wolves are pretty timid. I know my old Siberian was, and they're 1st cousins.
But when they quit being timid, they do tend to snap like a glass rod. I know my old dog had a particular dislike for rottweilers, and a particular fondness for domesticated fowl.

When we had a dog and I came home from one of my road warrior trips he was glad to see me and showed it. So what does a python do - hiss happily - what kind of barking idiot keeps a snake as a pet? I recall once when we still had the fishpond I had netting over it in the fall to keep out leaves. A black snake got himself (or herself) royally tangled in the loose netting at the edge so I got a pair of scissors and cut it loose. It reared up and hissed at me then slithered off - was that a thank you?
