Pure speculation, but that's what I'm wondering at the moment. I would think any Islamist extremists, etc., would have taken credit at this point, if they were behind it. The media reports what sells and, of course they try to turn a profit from it.

After all, they are a business. And, the point of any business is to make money..........................

And this is totally intuition, or maybe I am wrong or just full of shit (or both!), but it doesn't feel like an Al-Qaeda, etc. operation. My guess is home grown, far right whackos. More of an Oklahoma City, rather than 9/11, feel to it.
