I just ordered Volumes I and II of the Age of Roosevelt series by Arthur Schlesinger. I had picked up Volume III at a thrift store a few years ago and found it fascinating.

Regards,

I did read parts of volume I in graduate school. Schlesinger gets criticized for being too positive about FDR (and the Kennedys)...but his vignettes about the people who constituted the brain trust of the New Deal are priceless. I also read his biography of Robert F. Kennedy.

Which reminds me that I need to pick up William Manchester's The Glory And The Dream, a collection of essays about 20th Century American history. I hope it is still at the Salvation Army tomorrow.

Last book of the series. Next year after I get some more classics under my belt I will read some Heinlein and maybe start on the Robot books.

I could not get into Asimov back in the 70s but really enjoy his work now.

Finished the book.
Wasn't all that great. Only read to the end because I paid for it.

Wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
