"The Restoration of Shame”

Interesting article.

Provides some insight into the mind set of the post Reagan Republicans.

Quote:
Public shaming would be an effective way to regulate the “irresponsible behavior” of unwed mothers, misbehaving teenagers and welfare recipients, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R) argued in his 1995 book Profiles in Character.

In a chapter called "The Restoration of Shame,” the likely 2016 presidential candidate made the case that restoring the art of public humiliation could help prevent pregnancies “out of wedlock.”

I'd be for it if the shame was for things like 'selling out American workers for profit,' or 'being caught in blatant lies to the people.' But no, my precious, let's shame those low-class not-like-us people! That's what we likes to do, and it makes our base feel good and like us!

Holding a sign in public for things stupid and illegal? Maybe. MAYBE.

Stockades in the town square? No.

We do, however, publicly shame people through the mainstream media. Ponder who it is that usually complains about this..................

The same people who seem to support public shaming. Which comes as no surprise. We've all noticed that hypocrisy and irony are something they just don't get.

The one that says "who cares".

But I do since I am thoroughly enjoying the GOP comedy hour.

So instead of choosing abortion these women did what people like Bush want them to do....put their children up for adoption. Then Bush agrees to publicly shame them by allowing a law forcing women who want to put up their babies for adoption to publicly name the possible father in newspaper ads. Pretty mean spirited and that is being kind.

He does not recover from this in my opinion. I may be premature but I think he is done.
He seems pretty vacuous when asked if he is running...I do not think he really wants to.
