The Recession Ended in June 2009

http://blogs.wsj.com/economics/2010/...-in-june-2009/

So, the start of the recession = Bush's fault.
The end of the recession = Bush's fault.

Or, so it should seem if we're consistent in how we characterize such events.

Or, is this more evidence that we truly have no idea how to correctly measure / classify economic activity?

Thoughts?

And, if the Recession is truly over, someone must have forgotten to tell my pitiful home state of Michigan:

Michigan Unemployment = 13.1%

I thought Michigan has pretty much been pitiful since the late 1960s?

Wow, the lowest point on that chart is 2000.

Same as the rest of the country.

Interesting.

I remember back when Ronnie threw the country into a tail spin. It was a recession for most but the wealthy never skipped a beat.
I would suggest that a similar thing is happening today. The middle class is firmly still in the grasp of a recession, corporations are not.
Probably we need two reports going forward to truly understand the economy. One which gages the health of the upper 5% and another that gages the economic health of the rest of us.
As to your "interesting" source all I have to say, be happy!

Looks like South Dakota is the place to be, unemployment-wise. 4.3%.

Dang.
