If you have a real authoritarian strongman in power, these revolutions can be quashed. But it requires a fine hand at the controls, over-reacting like Assad did in Syria can fuel a full-on rebellion. I suspect Cuba now has more of a Gorbachev, and the Cuban Communist Party will go the way of the Russian.

Long exasperating effort on part of the Cuban people to achieve a comfort space. It appears near impossible.

Today I go back to Jacobo Arbenz of Quatemala. I remember, when about ten years old reading about his overthrow.

Now Quatemalans send their kids on a dangerous long trek
to the US. El Salvador has descended into an hell hole after a friendly revolution. Honduras unraveled after a "coup de etat".

The sad part is that Cuba has such an highly educated population.

See? This is why people should have the right to openly protest and yes, even if they get violent, consideration should be given to circumstance. A citizen fighting to throw off tyranny is not the same as a common vandal.

I now refer to the American Republican Party who disdain protest, (unless it's their own), and even attempt to pass "anti-riot" legislation as has Governor De Santis of Florida.

It's beautiful to watch people fight Communist tyranny..... ACTUAL Communist tyranny, not the imaginary kind some Americans are fighting.
