I'm thinking maybe it takes more guts to stay and continue to harangue the politicians into ending the war?
But, then again, it's much tougher to do much fighting from a jail cell. So, you go somewhere safe and continue speaking out from there. I can see that.
Or maybe some folks just figured America had lost it's mind and decided they didn't want to live here anymore? I can see that, too.
Lastly, Maybe there were some that were just pussies who wouldn't fight even if the war was justified? So, having no stomach for a fight on the battlefield, the protest march or the courtroom------they simply ran and hid?
I'm thinking you could probably find examples of "All the above". So, trying to pin "them" down to a common trait, when there were thousands of them, is kind of narrow, don't you think?
