Did neither the father or mother have coverage with their employer? Most health plans I have seen cover newborns immediately, subject to payment of an additional premium for a family plan if not already enrolled in one. Frankly, I'm not sure that such a provision is required by law, or is simply a provision of the particular plan. I guess if coverage for babies were required, that would just be another example of the government trying to put the insurance industry out of business by requiring them to provide coverage for people who actually need it.

Regards,

D-Ray

"Bernie and Kelli Lange tried to get insurance with Rocky Mountain Health Plans when their current insurer raised their rates 40 percent after Alex was born.

After filling out the necessary paperwork, the broker who was helping the family find new insurance called last Thursday with the shocking news that Alex, who weighed 8 1/4-pounds at birth, was being denied coverage."

Good God.

Just looking through this thread and seeing which posts are thoughtful and intelligent versus childish and crude is telling, isn't it? No wonder why we have so many cronic problems in this country. Jesus Christ.

Now do you know why I dumped the GOP?

Anyhow, the kid doesn't really look fat to me he just looks big, like it's giantism or something. I haven't been following the case closely; What reason did they give for the denial?

I don't think that you've developed a feel for this forum as of yet.
