I ran into the same sort of thing about 20-25 years ago. There was a Chinese girl waitress at a local Chinese restaurant that I thought was Mighty Fine. I asked her out, & she gave me 15000 reasons "No", but the real, unspoken one was that I was white. I think Orientals tend to be more clannish than even us inbred redneck hillbillies...
