"A Shameful Moment for This Country"
http://www.democracynow.org/2016/10/...r_this_country
Quote:
We turn now to North Dakota, where on Thursday hundreds of police with military equipment raided a resistance camp established by Native American water protectors in the path of the proposed $3.8 billion Dakota Access pipeline, which has faced months of resistance from the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and members of hundreds of other tribes from across the Americas. On Thursday afternoon, over a hundred officers in riot gear with automatic rifles lined up across North Dakota’s Highway 1806, flanked by multiple MRAPs—that’s mine-resistant ambush protected military vehicles—sound cannon, Humvees driven by National Guardsmen, an armored police truck and a bulldozer. Water protectors say that police deployed tear gas, mace, pepper spray and flash-bang grenades and bean bag rounds against the Native Americans and shot rubber bullets at their horses.

Oil and casinos have been the only revenge to a sanctioned mismanaged limbo existence founded in hypocracy.

They won't re-route the line for the native sacred ground because they already re-routed it away from an area of rich landowners. Is that smelly enough for y'all?

Yeah, its pretty shameful when folks don't respect property rights and vacate privately owned land when ordered to do so by police. Didn't the protesters throw stuff at the cops and set fire to something last week? Shameful.

If only they had occupied the land armed with automatic weapons and cowboy hats, it would have been eminently respectable.

You're having an off week, Don. You're pegging the "lame-o-meter" with some of your responses.

Clinton Breaks DAPL Silence With Statement That Says 'Literally Nothing'
http://www.commondreams.org/news/201...erally-nothing
Quote:
The statement from director of coalitions press Xochitl Hinojosa, who oversees Hispanic, black, and women's media for the Clinton campaign, reads in full:
We received a letter today from representatives of the tribes protesting the construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline. From the beginning of this campaign, Secretary Clinton has been clear that she thinks all voices should be heard and all views considered in federal infrastructure projects. Now, all of the parties involved—including the federal government, the pipeline company and contractors, the state of North Dakota, and the tribes—need to find a path forward that serves the broadest public interest. As that happens, it's important that on the ground in North Dakota, everyone respects demonstrators' rights to protest peacefully, and workers' rights to do their jobs safely.
"What a crock," said Ruth Hopkins, a Dakota-Lakota Sioux writer for Indian Country Today Media Network.
"Hillary Clinton managed to make a statement about the Dakota Pipeline that literally says nothing. Literally," 350.org co-founder Bill McKibben tweeted in response.

His "off weeks" are head and shoulders above any week you've ever had, troll.
