NY police officer suspended after new video shows brutality

Check out the video.

There are 4 cops holding this kid down against the hood of a car and then a 5th one in plain clothes just rushes in and takes a couple of cheap shots.

Disgusting.

NY police officer suspended after new video shows brutality

Quote:
NEW YORK (Reuters) - A New York City police officer who appears to punch a black youth during an arrest that was captured on video and widely circulated on the Internet has been suspended from duty, the department said on Friday.

The posting of the footage follows weeks of protests across the country over recent cases of police violence toward unarmed black men, including one in which a New York City man died after an officer placed him in a banned chokehold.

In the eight-minute video posted on YouTube on Wednesday, a plainclothes white officer can be seen rushing up to several uniformed officers struggling to handcuff a black youth and apparently striking him at least twice. Police said the suspect is 16 years old.

Depends upon where the individual was struck. There are techniques where, if a detainee is using their jeans pockets as leverage to avoid being cuffed, you use an upward jab into the crux of the elbow to force the arm back and the hand out. (It beats dislocating a shoulder.)

Looks ugly, review will determine.

But resisting arrest qualifies lots of techniques.

What happened is the cop took a couple of cheap shots.

Hopefully now with the proliferation of video phones we will see more and more of these bullies being exposed to the light of day.

The "best" part of the whole thing is that these kids were busted for "pushing someone to the ground", a serious crime! After these kids were fucked over by the cops, the victim told them that they weren't the kids who assaulted him.

The kids were arrested anyway. Gotta figure out some way to make it a "good collar" I suppose.

You don't actually believe that, do you? These are cops and this is New York. These cops will get the same "justice" that Pantaleo got.

Fucking criminals with badges and guns.... and we pay them!

Well, they were in the general vicinity and black.

I guess that's probable cause.

Yes.

If there's a rational reason for the technique, the plainclothes officer should be cleared.

That isn't the point. The point is that, even if there was no rational reason, he'll be cleared anyway. This is cops we're talking about here.

Here's another good one!

http://www.wltx.com/story/news/local...ting/16187305/

This was for a "seat belt violation". (The victim removed his belt as he pulled into the gas station.) Cop obviously saw an opportunity to fuck with a black guy.

This was in Columbia, SC. I know Columbia, SC.

I am certain they will find a reason to clear the cop. It's their privilege to detain and arrest whomever they do not like the way they look. As far as the suspension with pay, this is how I look at it. Longer the suspension, better for the policeman and the department that is hoping that the incident is forgotten. It's administrative so who is complaining? Not the cop. If were offered a free paid vacation, longer the better unlike in the private industry where the longer you are out, less they will need you when you return. Unions, we preserve and protect.
