I just bought one at the Exchange for $44. You can get them on the Bay new for $40.
They say it is the best watch you can get under $100.
I will use this one for a few months and if it holds up I am thinking of buying 10 to give to my relatives in the Philippines when I go there in January.
Shinola is owned by the brother of the owner of Fossil. I think the movements are made in China and the watch be assembled in Detroit.
I pick up Seiko's and any automatics I see. My biggest score I guess is my Seiko Pepsi Cola Pogue.
Invicta has a lot of watches. I have bought two cheap ones on the Bay recently with Japanese movements. Maybe not the best watches but look cool. The cheaper automatics use a Seiko movement.

I have been thinking about one of these cool looking Russian watches.
I have a post-USSR watch but is does not work.

The Soviet era watches have a following, the Russian timekeeping industry began afaik with the purchase and wholesale importation of the Ansonia clock mfg company ca 1929, and Hampden Watch co, ca 1930.
I have one of the excellent Soviet era Vostok jeweled platform movement ship bulkhead clocks.

I have ONE watch that I never wear or take anywhere. It's locked up in a safe.
It's an Elgin, solid gold, beautiful engravings on both sides with the winder at the three o'clock position. I'm thinking it's around 90-100 years old. My mother gave it to me. It was originally owned by a relative of hers (Uncle, I think.) who retired from the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad.
I see them going for $950 to as high as $2,500 on E-Bay, depending on condition, history, etc. Mine quit working some years ago, but is in beautiful cosmetic condition.
I wonder if I can get it fixed, locally?

Nice, a watch of great sentimental value.
