Al Queda in India?

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/...in-south-asia/

This will not go well for Zawahiri the Smurf, as Jon Stewart called him.

Al Qaeda who has support within Pakistan wants a foothold within India and exert their influence on the Muslim population, which is about 15%. Long term plan seems to set their course through India on to Bangladesh, Burma, Malaysia, Thailand an so on. Of course, Bangladesh, Malaysia and Indonesia have Muslim majorities.

I personally don't see these countries accepting the their brand of Islam. The animosity between Pakistan and India is bound to exacerbate especially since Pakistan has a very weak government and their army is sympathetic to Al Qaeda.

Nukes on both sides is a scary fact on the ground. I hope that the theory of mutual assured destruction is valid.

A little Muslim terrorism in India could create a large militant Hindu reaction, with outrages against Muslims that would fuel the militant movements. Ingredients for big trouble exist.

The Middle East has been full of troubling ingredients for a long time.

FWIK, the Muslims's in India are a peaceful lot. There are a few occasional skirmishes but nothing that leads to nationwide rioting. Mostly it's the politics/politician's who incite localized vandalism and violence. Besides I don't think the Indian Muslims would want to emigrate to Pakistan or Bangladesh.

So terrorists will need to be brought in from Pakistan and this tends to destabilize India and there are no simple answers. Can they incite the Indian Muslims? Remains to be seen.

I think the foreign terrorists can incite the Hindu extremists, and the Hindu extremists can incite the Indian Muslims. That's my worry.
