Finn - when you take a quote out of context and put your own spin on it, you can make anyone sound ignorant. By "silence", her quote was an observation that some organizations/individuals fear the reprisals that have been visited on her, Mastercard, Paypal, the Swiss government, etc. by the Wikileaks "cyber-mafia" hacker commuity. It wasn't about "media" silence.

Un-American - yes, an incorrect modifier. "Anti" would have been a more appropriate modifier, and would be quite descriptive of the apparent mindset of Mr. Assange, as well as some on the left in our own country.

So, I take it you don't think she'd make a great President?

I'm thinking we should talk seriously about running her just to watch the apolectics of the left

You fail to distinguish between distrust of American institutions and being anti-American. I, for one, am extremely suspicious of who makes up the real power structure in the United States. But being critical of the powers that be and wanting to expose some of the corruption in that arrangement does not make one anti-American. I don't approve of the methods of Assange, or his judgment, but I am afraid that many things about the true power structure here would not be available through normal channels.

Regards,

D-Ray

You would solve the problem that Obama is having now. If you want to really energize the left flank of the Dems, introduce the possibility of her actually holding the office of President. There would be no enthusiasm gap in 2012.

Am I the only one on this board guilty of this? Grab a mirror, sir.

Seriously though, I'll admit to being unwilling to read Sarah's musings deeply enough to glean their inner meaning or to extract evidence of her intelligence. It seems like an exercise in futility to me.

Actually, seeing that she didn't identify any of those institutions in her quotes, one would have had to read behind the quotes to discern that - if that was indeed her intended reference.
