A). He uses stories of his religious epiphany and Christian moral values to ensure them that he is "saved" or somewhat above reproach.

B). He uses stories of the "Founders", to reinforce the above-----"Father, I cannot tell a lie.", etc.

C). He tells them what they came to hear. Obama is a Nazi, he wants to take your guns, he has insideous plans to destroy America, blah, blah, blah.....

Maybe we need to find ways to raise the average. I don't think critical thinking comes naturally. It needs to be developed and reinforced. I would hope that more than half of us, given some education in the area, would be able to develop critical thinking skills. I guess I was lucky to have grown up in an era when it was fashionable to question authority.
