Believe good paying jobs are coming back to the USA. Yes they will be but for robots! Automation is the main culprit for the loss of jobs now. Manufacturing positions are being replaced by mechanized over humans in ever increasing numbers, they work 24/7 no vacations and sick time.
Also look no further the your local grocery store and the checkout lines to all the self serve. Then two others would be online transactions and phone service centers.

So bring these factories of robots to States instead of having them in China.

People are cheaper in China, so there it's more people fewer robots. But robots keep getting cheaper too.

There are getting to be fewer jobs to go around, and this trend will only grow. The only actual solution is the guaranteed wage, which will fund consumption and keep the economy turning. What's the difference to the economy if the consumer's consumption is funded by work, or not? If matters only if too many freeloaders would impact the accomplishment of needed work. But if that's not the case anymore?

But don't expect the Republicans to come around to this sort of thinking for decades, if ever. Disdain for the 'lazy' may be in their genes.

I grant you the major point but I still maintain the minor one: China, especially, should not benefit from the factories.

I agree with all of this.

Except that I think you meant to say "guaranteed income" not wage.

At least the movement towards this has started in western Europe, although it's still in it's infancy.

That's why I favor more government jobs, not less. At least then you can pay people not to work and still create the illusion that they are working.

Meanwhile, der Gropenfurher just announced a hiring freeze. The cognitive dissonance must be deafening in your head.

You are going to be pissing off the First Daughter with your attitude. Better start a retraction soon.

Yep, the VA cannot hire needed medical professionals until new hires get vetted by a new process that ensures the 2000 new doctors, nurses, and adpacs are the proper doctors, nurses, and adpacs. What bullshit.....

I understand that 30% of the federal workforce are veterans. So Trump just screwed those folks over.

Kurt Vonnegut wrote about this 65 years ago, in a book called Player Piano. It has probably been 40 years since I read it, but it sticks in my mind.
