It's MAGA Mike ladies & gents.
This situation might be worse than we thought. If Biden wins in 2024 and the House refuses to certify the election results guess who becomes president by default?

By Jan 20, the newly elected House is organized, and whoever is speaker then is next in line. A Democrat, hopefully.

Another hoping so.
Forgot the new congress and senate starts first.
OOPS!
The voter suppression and redistricting cases in Al GA NC and others all are still not decided. These may also be something to be watching.

Well folks, MAGA Mike is bringing to the floor two CR's to be voted upon today. Why the CR needs to be split in two defies logic, but now we will have two separate deadlines on January 19th and February 2nd. And these two are clean CR's, the very same type that the Freedumb thugs gave McCarthy the boot. Since this requires a suspension of the House rules, a two thirds majority in the House is needed to pass, which means a majority of Dems and minority of the Republicans will vote to pass it, since most everyone in their conference is not very happy nor do some want to be seen siding with the Democrats. Doubt if even half the Repubs will vote for it.
Good news is that no funding for Israel in the CR, bad news is that none for Ukraine either. That will be another battle to be fought in the coming weeks.
Will they give MAGA Johnson the boot? Doubt it, not that some may not want to, but I expect they want to avoid a shit show like the last Speaker election. Or no one would want the job except for Gym Jordan.

Well the Dems gave MAGA Mike the votes needed for the resolution to pass. That this pisses off the Freedum caucus pleases me to no end.

Now there is more. The the Freedumb Scumbags in the House are pissed, but they are not about to kick MAGA Mike out, not yet anyway. So they are going to shut down the house by tanking procedural votes. That should lead to two, not just one shut down threat come January.

From the same article:
"If those divisions worsen — like if conservatives make good on their threat to start blocking bills from coming to the floor — some centrist Republicans pointed out that would just increase their incentive to join forces with Democrats. Republicans openly shifting to that strategy would amount to a historic shift in House power dynamics.
"It just forces us to work with Democrats — these guys play checkers, they don’t play chess,” said centrist Rep. Don Bacon (R-Neb.)."

This is like an escape clause, but how will it make an impact. Hastert Rule is still in play, so bills will not come to a vote without majority Repugnant support. For the moderate Republicans to reach across the aisle and work with Dems, they will need 66% Yay votes to pass. Doubt any moderate Republican is going to risk their life and career to embrace bi-partisanship, but do expect this to come into play for funding bills threatening a shutdown of the government.
