Maybe I should have voted for McCain?

Now, here's a guy who is pretty close to really being the "Great American" that Coonskin Cap wearing armchair warriors in the Tea Party think they are.

If he had shown this side of himself in November of 2008, I might have voted for him.

If he won, we would be bombing 12 countries.
It would still cost less than Obama Care though.

Oh Please -- Can't we all just get along?

There's no "CUTS" to anything in the current proposals. It only reduces a fictional GROWTH in Fed spending. NOTHING will have a smaller budget in 2012, 2013, or beyond.. So spare me the tears about the how the poor will suffer..

The only probability of any agency being cut in the 2nd round (Nov) is DOD. And largely because they are counting on winding down the wars..

You HAD a valid 3rd choice. Could have voted for Bob Barr like I did in 2008..

Name ONE Federal Agency helping the poor that will have a SMALLER budget in 2013 versus 2012 because of this "debt deal".. And keep on getting angry, disgusted and saddened by my observations. In your little world -- you're a blessed saviour ain'tcha? I'd hate to ruin your apostle status..

Who is it here that simply equates money with compassion and altruism. And OPM (other peoples money) at that.

Nothing lower on the planet imho...

I agree. NOBODY needs to go hungry in America. There are twenty five food pantries in this city...every restaurant takes food stamps. There's a dental equipped van that provides services.
Clothing drives are everywhere. NEW items must be donated at some locations. Listen up...MOST playgrounds provide FREE lunches to children and give back packs(brought back daily by the child) filled with food for breakfast and an evening meal...etc
Free childcare is provided for mothers attending classes. On...and on..

With school approaching...A TV station and various businesses provide backpacks filled with school supplies.
I think its wonderful that people open their hearts. But...we are known as the city of "good neighbors."

Poor is subjective.

Those are wonderful programs. My church runs a food pantry and has adopted a school for the food backpacks. Not everywhere can support such programs, and such programs do leave gaps - but so do government programs. Those on the lower economic rungs are best served with a combination.

D-Ray

Hey, DJ, I like the new avatar.

What kinda pictures you need? Proof that you might see me there one out of three Sundays. There are lots of good people there - I ought to spend more time around them - maybe some of it will rub off on me.

Regards,

D-Ray

Times may be tough, but Americans truly do live in the land of the horn of plenty.

But as a critique, if you're rich you have it made, if you're poor there's programs for you, but if you're middle class fallen on hard times, you don't get shit until you've lost all of your chips.

Perhaps that's the way it should be, I donno.

Chas
