For the party and its flag bearers it more than a distraction especially more states will disqualify Trump thus threatening his legitimacy as a candidate for the independent voters.

For the MAGA sheeple, one new grievance and another opportunity to shower their chieftain with $5 and $10 bills.

I am somewhat taken aback from this comment by Bill Barr, the previous AG.

“I strongly oppose Donald Trump for the Republican nomination, but I think that this case is legally wrong and untenable,” Barr said in a CNN interview. “And I think this kind of action of stretching the law, taking these hyper-aggressive positions to try to knock Trump out of the race are counterproductive. They backfire.”
Why is it legally wrong? Its their interpretation of the 14th Amendment which everyone agrees is quite confusing. By not acting on it, they would have in effect condoned Trump's insurrection.

From what I see this is how it shakes out.

Those who think the 14th amendment should not apply here:
Those who believe the election was stolen
Those who think tRump was justified in his actions
Those who wish him to be president again

Those who think the 14th amendment should apply here:
Everyone else

Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump

The State of Iowa should disqualify Ted Cruz from the most recent election on the basis that he cheated- a total fraud!

Billy "Low" Barr has also stated that he would vote for "him" if he becomes the Repub nominee. Party before country. It's the Republican way.

The very same people who misinterpret the 2nd are now doing it to the 14th.

We see how the court has ruled on the 2nd so be prepared for the same ahead on the 14th.

Not sure if it does anywhere. I am just giving my opinion of what SCOTUS is going to use to overturn.

I hope it sticks, I think we are all going to be disappointed.

Also the Colorado Repb party already said they will just switch from a primary to a caucus format (no ballots required) so Trump can participate.

‘The Opposite of Politics’: A Conservative Legal Scholar Says Kicking Trump Off the Ballot Is ‘Unassailable’
J. Michael Luttig explains why he thinks the 14th Amendment should prevent Trump from running for president again.

Remember, this guy is a bigwig in the Federalist Society, the group that, under Leo Leonard, gave Donny ALL his candidates for SCOTUS. He's WAY smarter than our resident "conservative" clown, lol.

The Orange Menace can sure dish it out but cannot take it on his chin.

Quote:
And during the 2016 campaign, on dozens of occasions he said that Hillary Clinton shouldn’t “be allowed to run” because of her private email server. “She shouldn’t be allowed to run for president. She shouldn’t be allowed,” Trump said shortly before Election Day 2016. “I’m telling you, she should not be allowed to run for president based on her crimes. She should not be allowed to run for president.”
And we all know about Trump's birther movement to disqualify Obama which is what gave rise to his own political standing. This link is worth a read as a refresher course in irony and hypocrisy.

YouGov Poll: Do you approve or disapprove of the Colorado Supreme Court ruling that Donald Trump can't appear on the state's 2024 Republican presidential primary ballot because his actions leading up to the Jan. 6, 2021 takeover of the Capitol amount to insurrection or rebellion against the United States?

https://today.yougov.com/topics/poli.../12/20/edc6d/1

Sorry, Donny!
