Strength in numbers. The ones that would love to split with the tRumplican party know they'd be up against the tRumplicans and the Democrats.

Yes, but don't you think that enough Republicans held their noses and voted Democrat just in order to oust Trump? And don't you think that they'd really prefer a moderate center Republican option if it were presented to them?

From what I've heard from Republicans interviewed about how they voted in the 2020 election, the vast majority said they voted for Trump. They didn't even need to hold their nose.

They prefer above all else to keep their jobs. By any means they deem necessary.

Your comment sounds right for Republicans in congress. Noogies, I think, was talking about the Republican electorate in general.

In that light I agree with his comment even more.

Yes, those guys. And also the hordes that have deserted the GOP in the last 4+ years. Between them and the Republicans taking refuge in the Democratic Party, I think there's the basis for a viable third party. Let the GOP keep the psychos, extremists and Trumpers.

Sounds like the California Republican party a couple decades ago. Most of them became permanent NPPs (no party preference) when Gov. Pete Wilson and the GOP went full on KKK out here. Prop. 187 was their high watermark.

What we have is a duopoly and the independents form a de facto third party. Besides neither the Democrats nor the Republicans will ever tolerate a third party and settle for a third of the $4.5 Trillion pie ($6.6 in 2020).
