I'm just hoping he isn't a member here, Robbin.

I think it's way past time for the Repubs to bury the wackobirds and move back to the center/right and push the Dems back to the left.

"However, Roosevelt insisted on excluding African-American Republicans from The South (whom he regarded as a corrupt and ineffective element); but, he did include black delegates from all other parts of the country.[9] Roosevelt further alienated white southern supporters on the eve of the election, by publicly dining with black people at a Rhode Island hotel."

Interesting, when coupled with the exodus of the Dixiecrats in the 1960s and more recent events.........

TR boldly tried to reach out to blacks at the dawn of the 20th century and look what it got him.

FDR signed an executive order banning discriminatory hiring practices by the federal government.

The former suffered political backlash from his own party and voters for his actions, the latter did not. This tells me something.

Then, there was internment. Nasty bit of overt racism against the Japanese-Americans on FDRs part. Curiously missing is the outrage from both parties. It was different time, however.

Ever wonder why he didn't speak out about lynching, or the discrimination regarding relief? Hint - your avatar

At least he reversed the hiring discrimination placed by the horribly racist Wilson.
