Unhappy Vietnam War Hero Sen. John McCain Has Brain Cancer

The same cancer that killed Ted Kennedy.

Best wishes and prayers offered to Senator McCain and his family.

For all the times McCain has baffled me with straight Repub positions, he has always been honest on military matters, and principled in who he holds as enemies of the state. He is one of those rare breed guys, principled, plain spoken, and a man of his word. Someone who you can trust to have your back - a concept that is critical in the military. I wish him well.

Best wishes to Sen. McCain. He showed true class in the way he handled attempts to disrespect his opponent and then the President elect in 2008. I'm not sure that he bears the entire blame for opening the Pandra's Box that was Sarah Palin, but at this point I will not hold a grudge.

In my opinion he is one of the very few acceptable Republican politicians. I wish there were more characters like he is in the Republican Party.

Best wishes to him and his family!

I might not have agreed with his actions or views but respect the man.

The GOP and the country needs more like him right now.

Some brain cancer is worse than other; some people live long and unimpaired after this diagnosis. For example, Jimmy Carter?

We don't know details, so it's not quite time to schedule the funeral. Though of course the possibility that this is terminal is not small....

OK, the one detail we've got is that they removed a tumor known as a glioblastoma.

Here's the generic prognosis for people with these: “For adults with more aggressive glioblastoma, treated with concurrent temozolamide and radiation therapy, median survival is about 14.6 months and two-year survival is 30 percent. However, a 2009 study reported that almost 10 percent of patients with glioblastoma may live five years or longer,” ABTA wrote. (ABTA = American Brain Tumor Assiciation)
