Jimmy Carter: "America has no functioning democracy."

Pretty strong language, particularly coming from a former President of the United States. The translation is a bit rough, but the quotes are accurate.

The focus of his comments are on the NSA "scandal" US intelligence practices, which, he says, have gone too far. Wonder how these comments will be spun, assuming the US media even bothers to take notice of this.

Are you aware that Carter was a nuclear submariner?

Sum? He knows the score.

He acts indignant because someone has to while we keep listening.

If you were trained by Rickover, you don't give a damn about gathering too much intelligence...

So, you're saying that Carter is acting indignant, but he really does support the NSA's activities? He's speaking with a forked tongue, Zeke?

I wish Carter would run one last time...yeah I know he is very old...but we gave him the short shrift back in 1980. I could live with him in office...heck as long as he keeps the Tea Party out of the White House and off the Supreme Court

I sometimes wonder how these people get elected. Some congress critter was saying that NSA should only track the terroristas. Excuse me? They don't wear labels sohow else do you find them?

Your statement sounds as though you have direct knowledge thereof.

Sounds like you would make a good delivery man

I did not vote for him and would not vote for him today. He's a dreamer.

I would not vote for Obie again, (except by default) He can't get anything done.

I would not vote for Bush, I did not vote for Bush. (JR) Entitled punk. No clue how the guy in the street lives. Plus he's not real bright.

I did vote for Ray-gun, I would not vote for him again.

I did not vote for Clinton, I might now. I don't like his narcissistic nature but he can govern well.

I did vote for Jerry, I would again. A reasonable republican. Enough said.

I voted for Bush (one), I would again. Another reasonable republican.

And there exposed the chink in his armor or rather there is his Achilles Heel....an excess of idealism.

Carter as a technical man should now realize that technology has OVERWHELM secrecy.

I agree. His performance as president has always been underrated.
