Remember this is an entry level warehouse job. Easy to say they need to be paid $20, very difficult to pay it.
I made $3.18/hr my first real job. Netted perhaps $105-110 a week (I think it was $107 actually, but grey matter is dying ). Going to an inflation calc online I see that's equivalent to about $7.15.
I blame rich people like you guys 'Rich' is relative.

$3.18 an hour was a lot of money back in the Cro-Magnon period. Maybe what we need to do is find a way to time travel the entire planet back to the days when everything was affordable and you could live quite comfortably on next to nothing, provided you could take down a Mastodon with a pointy stick.

Temps are more disposable. The paper cup of the human race. Plus, there are no benefit costs.
My question is; Is someone really a "temp" when the employer has deliberately strung them out for 2-3 YEARS without hiring them?

When I pimped temp help we were charging $12.50/hr for a $6/hr pay.
Which was more than what everyone else, including most of my coworkers, was paying ($5), I'd get the pick of the temp pool that way . Which sadly still wasn't great
There are legit reasons for using temp services to find new hires, most due to the turnover I mentioned previously.
Interesting sidenote, I bumped into a lot of racism in very small blue collar businesses. 'Can you get me a white guy?'
NO! Businessmen racist? That's absurd. Next thing I know, you'll tell me some of them were cheap bastards.
Keep in mind this was over 25 years ago now and I started cold calling from the back of the telephone book, lots of eastern European guys. Anyway I told them the truth - not only is it illegal, the blue collar working black guys were much more reliable overall than whatever white golden-boy temp we could supply that week.

The white boys were more likely---------Republicans who think they have a birthright to a desk job and air conditioning.

Beeeeleeeeve me, it wasn't a lot of money when I was making it!
Scrapped on the side for extra money. Not always exactly legal.

You don't know a jab at humor when you see one? I had a minimum wage job once. $3.35/hr and he "offered" medical benefits.....at the employees expense, of course. And the guy who owned the place used to drive his Rolls to the plant and make employees clean it for him. He had a reputation, even among other local businessmen, as being the biggest prick on the planet. He was known for telling people, "I don't run this business to make YOU rich." The guy even looked like "Gordon Gekko", only about 20 years older.
At the time, I didn't realize I was seeing the future. I thought there was no way our society would come to actually admire assholes like that. I guess it was just the naivete' of youth.

Ah so
I shouldn't have expected much from that job, after all it was a 2 question employment exam - 1) can you prove you're 18? 2) Show me 4-5/8" on this tape measure. Good, you start tomorrow
They largely got what they paid for too. Parties in the parking lot at lunch, came in basically when we felt like it, etc.
It was also the present and past.

Any sum that can made wherein a hard working individual cannot support a family in modest comfort while working 40-45 hours per week is too low.

I am beginning to see two Americas...an older, pension supported elderly population that is being augmented with social security payments....you know the types you see at Casino buffets feeding the slot machines in-between stuffing themselves. I sort of include myself in this category
and everyone else. People barely making it. Many of these are younger people....low wages, no health care, not really having a stake in society.
