The blast of smoke came from the engine revving up when they went full-astern. The increased RPM caused torque steer to starboard-side, when they wanted to go port-side. The newly released anchor acted as a fulcrum.

I'd figure they are the people with lots of recent experience building big bridges. We built all the ones we wanted, don't build them often now.

Because the USA is reverse mortgaged and the stake holders will need to give the nod. Sort of like an HOA.

Everything a lot smaller in this incident. I believe the several people who say this isn't that unusual with barges and rivers. 'Many small few large' is how just about everything comes.

The ship in Tuesday's crash, Dali, was involved in at least one prior accident when it collided with a shipping pier in Belgium.

Apparently ships being escorted by tug boats is too expensive, so they avoid it. But for all the money saved, what is this once accident going to cost? Worse yet, the tax payers will end up footing the bill because doubt anyone's insurance will cover the cost of reconstruction of the Key bridge.

Besides the ships contractors will have to pay for the Dali to be cleared from the bridge, towed to port and unloaded for repairs.
