Repubs Filibuster Minimum Wage Hike

http://www.latimes.com/nation/politi...#axzz30OcIdvim

Senate Repubs stiff the working poor. No surprise there.

A$$holes.

"GOP senator has world's lamest excuse for blocking minimum-wage hike"

How do they get anyone to vote for them?

I like to see them try and live on minimum wage.

Still think tie their raises to the minimum wage rate.

Knowing full well that the Senate would vote against it, this vote was taken to have an issue for the upcoming midterms to combat the GOP's continued use of Obamacare as a campaign issue. We'll see if it makes a difference.

The Dems picked a bad week to try to kill half a million jobs.

Actually smart politics. They knew it wouldn't (and shouldn't, because of above) pass and they get to look like the benevolent protectors of the poor.

It sharpens the image of the repugs as anti working class.

Yes, it does. Which is something they can't avoid anymore. Mainly because they ARE anti-working class. Even the ones who are working class are against themselves and don't even realize it. They can't see it through all of the hubris and hullabaloo. "True Patriots" fighting to give more "freedom" to those who make their fortunes exploiting them.

That's the Republican trick.

Saw a piece about Seattle on the news last night wanting a $15 minimum wage and all the restaurant owners were crying in their champagne.

They must think we are bloody stupid and feel that wages constitute the major part of the meal cost. We know what a steak costs, we eat them here as well. We know what veggies cost, we know what building maintenance costs. We sure as hell know what electricity costs giveb the thieves we have here. We know what a 20% + tip costs. We know what a bottle of gin costs.

Labor is a trivial part of the restaurant meal costs, likely less than 5% and to be honest all tipping is, is a subsidy to the restaurant owner so they can pay lousy salaries. So stop the BS already.
