Nah, not really my cup of tea. Not sure if I would have found anything particularly horrifying about the comment if I did. But I'm not predisposed to use race as a political tool to discredit others, like those who would go out of their way to find racism, bigotry and "homophobia" (now there's a nonsense word with an entomology that is purely political) where it may not exist.

I suspect not. But I do think they have doppelgangers amongst certain die hard, myopic liberals on certain left leaning political forums. In fact, I suspect you might know the type John.

Which is why you would never think of linking to a story about a popular liberal comic having an alleged racial faux pas.

So, you are saying that you are not predisposed to using race to discredit, but you are willing to do so when you deem the circumstances appropriate. In other words - "it's improper to use race to discredit, unless I can do it with one of your guys."

But, it is legitimate to have a discussion about whether Colbert went too far with his parody. Just as it is legitimate to have a discussion about whether pundits who emphasize the name Barrack Hussein Obama when they mention the President are pandering to those who would reject him because of his "otherness." I mean, how often did folks refer to Nixon as Richard Milhous Nixon? And there's not the slightest tinge of racism involved in showing the President as a witch doctor on posters, is there?

D-Ray

Nope, not what I'm saying at all. But one other interesting aspect of this forum are some member's penchant to try to put words in other people's mouth.

It's an actual term, Mike. And, no, just because it wasn't a widely used term before the 1960s, doesn't invalidate it. Every word had to be invented at some point in time.

Do what? React to every accusation of racism as if it's part of some sinister plot without any clear reason to believe it is a valid claim or not? It seems to me that some of us like to deny bigoted attitudes even when they are blatantly obvious.
