A sense of humour is always helpful, Bob, even in this context.
However, I hope that everbody is calming down a bit in the American Government after 1/20/2021. Common sense will be the key. Common sense even in GOP brains (!). The Republicans must realize that it does not make sense anymore to pee on their own feet.

Joe Biden's job will be harder than we'd hoped.
Once the new Congress is sworn in the GOP efforts to damage Biden's presidency will shift into a higher gear. They lost the presidency this time but they'll soon get to work on the 2024 election. They can't be bothered to do the work of helping the American people they're in this for power and control and they definitely don't want America to see they've been lying about the Democrats all along. A side effort will go into making Vice-President Elect Harris look bad on the chance that she'll be the Democratic nominee for 2024.

There Aren’t Serious Enough Consequences for Those Trying to Break American Democracy
What the president* and his lawyers have been attempting to do deserves punishment that will likely never come.

A sedition prosecution would be justified, but Biden isn't the man for it. His strategy is to unify us by making nice with everyone. Which is not all-bad strategy. But he will at least need to keep prosecution options open, as a lever to get Trump to keep quiet.

Making nice with followers of a leader intent on overthrowing you may not be such a wise move. You can't please everyone. Empty threats won't work with tRump.

Marshall Cohen @MarshallCohen
Georgia election official @GabrielSterling (R) says the Dominion conspiracy theories are “insanity," a "fever dream" originating from an "Internet cabal," and that the allegations of vote-rigging are "crazy" with "no proof." These are the same conspiracies Trump is pushing....

What happened to the Insane clown and Whell? Surprised the gullible morons aren't pushing the same Trumpian nonsense here. Missing my morning laugh at their ignorance.

Billy Barr: No evidence of fraud that’d change election outcome
https://apnews.com/article/election-...1a9061a6c7f49d
Quote:
The comments are especially direct coming from Barr, who has been one of the president’s most ardent allies. Before the election, he had repeatedly raised the notion that mail-in voter fraud could be especially vulnerable to fraud during the coronavirus pandemic as Americans feared going to polls and instead chose to vote by mail.

Oh-oh. Looks like Billy is trying to salvage his highly tarnished reputation. Donny won't be happy...

Army Hits Back Against False Claim that Soldiers Died in CIA Op to Nab Election Servers
https://www.military.com/daily-news/...ence-unit.hmtl
Quote:
A retired Air Force three-star general reignited baseless conspiratorial claims about U.S. troops' involvement in clandestine missions in the wake of the presidential election -- claims an Army official said are 100% false.
No Special Forces soldiers were killed while seizing computer servers in Germany as part of a CIA operation after the presidential election. There was, in fact, no mission of the sort.
And members of the 305th Military Intelligence Battalion are not "the Kraken" that an attorney for President Donald Trump said last month she'd be unleashing. The unit is not involved in any post-election missions supporting the White House -- a move that would be highly unlikely considering it's an entry-level training battalion where new soldiers who haven't yet picked up their military occupational specialty are assigned.
"The allegations are false," an Army official told Military.com.

Incredible what Trumpkins are so willing to believe.... Even worse that former three-star generals propagate this nonsense.
