Umm, just maybe two pointless wars might have contributed a bit?

Heck, the debt problem's been looming for years. We've got to come up with 2.5 tril for SS. The stimulus spent $787 bil in one shot. Iraq/Afghanistan/Pakistan is est at 1.2 tril over the last ten years.

Wonder how underfunded the feds' retirement plan is?

So 1.2 trillion for the 2 phony wars and 1 trillion cost for the original term of the Bush Tax cuts done through reconciliation - I'm not not counting the 74 billion we have to borrow to keep them going for the rich and famous for two more years.
So it kinda looks like if you counted in all the interest it is a break even thing.
So much for fixing things that ain't broke.

I dunno; Why don't we ask TDs wife?

Hey TD, your wife proposed any cuts to congressional pay or benefits yet?

(Or have any of those "Tea Party" candidates?)

I think they should do it for the same amount the "Founders" received.
After all, that would be the patriotic thing to do. Right?

Carl, Obama is still fighting the '2 phony wars' plus added some of his own. He also extended 'Bushes' tax cuts.

Wonder why....

Certainly the GOP is forcing him to do so. Amazing, the power of GOP.

Blue, I'm not even saying it was wrong - at the time. But now we're meeting Greece. And why aren't you worried about my retirement? The SS retirement age keeps going up and not a peep.

I am worried about your (and my) retirement. My question is why aren't YOU worried about it? I thought SS was "Socialism", and that pension plans are an unacceptable burden on businesses, Pete?

Funny, how after Ryan toured the country with his plan and got BOO'ed off the stage, Republicans are suddenly so concerned about all of these "Soshialist" programs they've despised for decades, isn't it?

Next thing we know, they'll suddenly realize union members vote and become the "Party of the Workin' Man".

LOL Carl.

Blue, I haven't heard a peep about SS retirement ages and very little about no COLA increases. Keeping gov't employees retiring at 50, yeah.

I can just picturse some 68 year old running around roofs nailing down shingles. They can bump the retirement age but does that guarantee corporations will employ people after 65. Oh I see it now, it is like that former CO Rep Governor suggested, we old farts have a duty ti die off quietly.
