Had not heard that version, Dave.
Not bad, but, for sentimental reasons.......the original version still has a place in my heart.

Thanks! I just have to dogpaddle around the shallow end for a while before I venture into the deep end...

I hear ya. I actually hate "Funkytown". Never was a disco fan. But, it brings back such a wonderful memory.

You ought to follow that up with some James Bond themes. That music almost became its own genre. Which was the bigger hit: Peter Gunn, Pink Panther, or Goldfinger?

Along about the time that Peter Gunn was on TV there was another "PI" show called Richard Diamond, starring David Jansen (The Fugitive) and Mary Tyler Moore's legs. The theme and incidental music was jazz-based like Peter Gunn's andwritten and conducted by Pete Rugolo. It was really pretty darned good. If you happen to spot it at the thrift stores you might give it a listen.
Oh, and Henry Mancini scored another TV show, MR. Lucky. That was pretty good music too.

I'm thinking "Pink Panther".
