Sorry I misunderstood the HOR reference....

I don't know for sure, but I'd expect that putting such a qualifier on referendums would require amending the AZ constitution?

As things are, can a bill enacted by the AZ legislature change or repeal the provisions of a referendum?

I don't know.

WOW...I just heard on the radio that this law will be retroactive back to 1998! I know I don't like that.

I really doubt that the folks pushing this really want the public to know what their motivation is.

That says to me that the AZ legislature can countermand referendums at will. They are just repealing 'all referendums of a certain age' to hide which ones are the real target(s).

If the Republicans are for it, then I'm against it.

That has nothing to do with Party Politics.

It has to do with the fact that the Republicans are just plain Evil.

I'm afraid I have to agree with that Tom. Especially in Arizona. You can bet there is a mean spirited purpose behind this.

Of course not, they were the ruling class. They wanted the power for their class.

People have always been the same.

I'm against referendums as rule. They are worded to confuse the average voter, the ones who bother to read them. In my state they normally have them in a primary vote cycle. So the deck is stacked against the voter to begin with.

What is the reasoning behind the move? A problem like the legal Marijuana law? Or am I missing it is just a AZ hating laws thing?
