Irrelevant since it takes 67 votes to even bring a bill up for discussion.

No, it only takes 60, but that lasted for only a year. Even before that several of the dems were DINO.

However that is not the GOPs problem.

No Pete, it is everyone's problem. When the great majority of legislation is blocked purely to make political points - and this includes legislation that arises from GOP ideas - the government is not functioning as it should. Do you think the founders envisioned that it would take a super-majority to get anything done?

No. But of course I don't see too much government as the problem!

Got that right, it's the GOP that is the problem.

I do have one workers comp case that has been pending for over 12 years. The worker had one ankle crushed, the other ankle broken and a compound fracture of his leg. He had a baseball-sized lump of skin on his leg where the bone had punctured it. He has had surgery after surgery and deep seated infections. He has had one ankle fused, but he has continued to work in a job that requires him to walk. As a result of his disrupted gait, he is awaiting knee replacement. And this malingerer, who deals with pain as an every day fact of life, has scheduled his surgery for a time that is less disruptive of his job.
I haven't made a dime off of his case, and we probably have a few grand invested in it. But you know what? I'm tickled pink. Because he has continued to work, we have been able to keep his case open and he has continued to get the treatment he needs for the ongoing effects of this surgery. None of this would be available, however, if the meddling government hadn't made employers maintain insurance to provide medical treatment and pay benefits to workers who have been injured in their jobs. For him to keep working after all he has gone through - this guy is my hero.

Awesome story, Don. I love things like this. Keep up the good work, counsellor.
