Lobbyists

Just a thought.

Would you support legislation that made it illegal for elected politicians to make written promises to lobbyists? I know it wouldn't change anything, but don't you think it would be a good idea if only to make a statement?

Good grief Eddie! Who would write the legislation? The professional liar class (politicians) would have no problem working around such constraints.

The SCOTUS should reverse the mistake when a previous
court legalized bribery simply because they could not read
plain English. The First does not support lobbying.

Re-write the tax code to a flat tax or national sales tax based system and the lobbyist problem takes care of itself. The last thing we need is to keep churning out legislation that changes nothing.

Are you alluding to Grover?

I think the only people elected politicians should make any pledges to is the folks who elected them---in the collective sense. Should they make promises to individuals like Grover and the Koch Brothers? No. Never.

Having said that, I believe BHunter is right. It's never gonna happen.

If you really want to stop the lobbyists, give me an inside track so's I can be one.

Guaranteed, if it ever looks like I've got a chance at the easy money, some sumbitch will pull the rug out from under the deal.

Yes, I have a hard time understanding why there isn't a move to "out" these guys for signing a pledge to a lobbyist and his special interest group. Makes no sense to me. If anyone is going to make a pledge, it should be voters pledging not to vote for anyone who signs a pledge to a lobbyist.
