You know those firefighters that went into the World Trade Center and died while it collapsed were probably all union...
My take is you want a well paid police or firefighter coming after you in an emergency, one that has a stake in society and job security. If I was a policeman or firefighter working for a right to work boss or an organization that low balled me on wages I am going to think twice before rushing into a burning house.... think I am wrong? Why do think the military gets the great health care and good retirement? No one is going to put their life on the line for a weak 401k... gosh I sound like an unpatriotic lefty but that is far from the truth lol

Fine, but we have situations like the 63 car chase, and the last place I lived had a cop that enjoyed smashing peoples faces in, literally - couldn't get rid of him till he did it off duty.
Also at a fridau HS football game a local cop with a kid on the team gathered the other men (my neighbor one of them) and warned them that the cops were cracking down on DUIs - for money. It's out of control. Pete

There are some necessary evils in life. I know motorcycle cops and red light cameras are a pain in the ass but we need the police. If we were all angels we would not need any controls over personal behavior but alas.....
