Exactly. Welfare is not as it is painted at all.

You might, MIGHT, be able to find a 1 bedroom apartment in the wrong neighborhood in Cleveland for $300. Maybe. It'd be craptacular and dangerous.

Rob2.0, ever just try for food stamps?

Pete
Most all poor people are forced into dangerous neighborhoods, but they have all the opportunity of the Bushes.

Food stamps, are extremely hard to qualify for.

Of course bribing inspectors never happens, the inspectors being the angels they are. Landlords do like it, you get paid be the feds direct, and ALL damages are guarenteed, not just a deposits worth.

And sometimes, once in a while, a deserving poor person gets one.

This is exactly the false imagery that rallies the Beck devotees.

The reality is that living on social programs is hell and inhumane in such a wealthy society.

I'm familiar with this life. Many choose it. T'ain't false at all.

Here in Ohio, if you go and ask for food stamps they give them to you, at first at least, practically no questions asked, regardless of income, and afterwards they're a lot easier to get than welfare.

This is correct but to qualify you have to way way poor.

iT is very false to think people don't live miserably if they are on assistance.

Agreed, that's why I work , but many choose it.

And the way they manipulate their kids to get SSI is shameful.

Indeed, desperation makes people do desperate things.

BTW, choosing is relative.

Here in the swamp, you used to be able to go into the section 8 neighborhoods and buy foodstamps for 50 cents on the dollar from crackheads. Now, they are issued with the recipients name and SS# stamped on them so that they must show a picture ID to use them. At first it didn't make much difference until the state cracked down on store owners/managers/employees who weren't checking. Once people started getting fined and/or going to jail....................

Now, it's not quite as bad.

I agree completely with this.
