Housing prices and rents have been skyrocketing all over the country. It's red hot in DC too. As for Florida, you couldn't pay me enough to live there.

Out here on the 'Left Coast' rents are thru the roof. I guess for every rednecked peckerwood who's abandoning the Golden State, two are moving in.
Good riddance. Idaho seems to be a favorite.

If Ray Donovan came banging at my door and told me he would pay for my move to either Tampa Bay or The Land of Pleasant Living, TB in a NY minute.

Even here in this local, prices are going crazy. Building apartments it seems everywhere.
Homes selling for cash, over asking.
A real frenzy of activity in the housing markets.
More a Pensacola fan.
For a week or two in January is my style.

Different strokes ...
I understand well enough the desire to vacation in certain parts of Florida during the Winter or early Spring (I've traveled down for Nationals Spring Training combined with South Beach and the Keys several times) and spent a good deal of time in Destin when I lived in New Orleans, but living there with its heat, humidity, bugs, storms, snowbirds, lunatics and shitty crabcakes would be a bit much.
Maryland has a far more varied topography with the beach, the bay, the Piedmont and the mountains, easy access to two large cities (DC and Baltimore) and 3 international airports, a highly educated population, is drenched in history, cultural events/venues and great ethnic cuisine. Moreover, it has a change in seasons, something I'd miss greatly in Florida.

So what, Bozo. I grew up around where you live. I know the Land Of Pleasant Living is America in Minature. If I had taken the job in DC, you could very well be passing me in the grocery. I have a first cousin who lives in Tampa Bay and have TDY'd there. You come across like a stuck-up Ten Hills kid and colonel's son.

And you come off as an perpetually irritated malcontent and contrarian.

You shouldn't have mentioned 'educated people.' He tends to take that personally.
