Repeal NAFTA!

How many among us think this will ever happen?

I'll cast the first vote.

I voted no. It won't and it shouldn't be repealed.

A coworker recently told me he votes Republican because of NAFTA and the "fact" that NAFTA was "Clintons Baby". I told him that voting Republican would most likely NEVER result in a repeal of NAFTA. "So, I suppose you think voting Democratic will? (With a chuckle, as if he had caught me in a trap.)". "No, we're stuck with it, it's entrenched. But I would tend to suspect it's more adamantly favored by the party of free, unrestricted trade, despite their rhetoric. And, who would that be?"

Blank stare.

Regards,
Dave

People keep blaming NAFTA (North American Free Trade Act) for foreign countries dumping goods here. It only applies to US, Canada and Mexico, the other crap is the fault of a bunch of yahoos who think US workers should compete with Chinese or Indian labor. The same idiots who are complaining about the economy because the consumer is not consuming - no shit?

What you say is very true, Rob. Call the consumer lazy and stupid, lay him off, send his job to India, then wonder why he doesn't buy any of your crap. We have some real geniuses running this show, don't we, Rob?

Almost as smart as the American worker who "Only buys foreign, because American workers are lazy."------Ummmmm, yeah right, dumbass.

I also voted "No." BTW.

I would love to see it repealed. It's a joke how people call you an isolationist when you speak up against it. We all know it's an unfair advantage to every other country.
OK, let the requisite flaming begin.

Interesting that this is an issue that draws the ire of people from both the right and the left. My union clients obviously hate it. The labor protections in it are illusory.

For what it's worth, Dennis doesn't like it. And my Dad, the Teamster BA, said the same thing...only his prose was more colorful.

If you continue with these reasonable responses, I may take away your "Troll of the Year" award!!!

It would look good sitting on the mantle beside by "Ignert Peckerwood" award.

I'll grant you that labor protections are not good with reference to Mexico, but Canada does have labour laws which is more than I can say about this country - Thanks Chao and Ciao Chao.
