Texting while driving

Here's the deal - if unproven acohol consumption gets you tossed in jail and your life ruined, in fairness they should do studies that equate various activities to BOC and charge accordingly. So eating? Texting? Talking? Fiddling with the radio? Would all have commensurate penalties.

I'd think the cops/judges/municipalities would be FINE with this, for capitalized reasons.

I just love this country. I love it so much. When I was a kid, in America, if a man wanted to crack open a cold six pack in his pick up truck on the way home from a hard day's work providing for his family, the Government wasn't there to tell him he didn't deserve his drunk. He was free do drive in any impared state he chose to. Free. In America.

When I see what's happened to that working man's freedom. First he has to slow down for that School zone, when there aren't any kids to be seen. Then he can't have a cold beer. A beer he paid for with his sweat and tears building up this great nation. Then he has to register his truck to "pay for roads and bridges". Sure. Like bridges are going to star falling down.

That's what America has become. You know who else had to pay for roads and bridges? Huh? Anyone? Recognize this guy (imagine picture of Hitler). He forced people to pay the State for roads and bridges too. That's right. The Nazis paid taxes.

And now this...

I'm just. I just- if you could see it. If you could see what this really is. It's not about texting in your car- that you paid for- on your phone- that you paid for. It's about control. Don't you see people? One small step after another. Nibbling away at what we once called freedom. Drinking while driving. Texting while driving. Watching a movie while driving. Did you know in some states it's actually illegal- yes, against the law- for married, heterosexual couples to fornicate while driving down the highway. Can you imagine? The State telling you when and where a married couple, bound together under the sight of God, can create the miracle of life. The very act that will bring the next generation of warriors to defend American freedom.

That's where we are people. That's what they've done to us. And if we don't do something about it right now- take a stand on this texting issue- the Socialists will win. They will. Make no mistake. The very survival of America and our way of life hangs in the ballance.

NJ did the right thing. When they enacted legislation on this they made it all encompassing. Anything that distracts a person from driving is illegal this includes putting on make up, talking on the phone, texting, Ipod use even food and liquid.

For those who think it is fine to talk on the phone and drive I suggest you are not realizing that your concentration is elsewhere when you are talking on the phone. Speak to any salesmen on the road about accurately getting to your destination while you are on the phone, you don't. You always miss turns and exits.

As to texting, the most dangerous of all activities while driving that man could have ever come up with. At least twice a week a car driving in excessive of 60 MPH is in my lane trying to hit me head on. These same roads were relatively safe until the birth of the text. Already 5 dead folks in this little town from it.

Cell phone use while driving is at least as dangerous as DWI @ 0.08% BAC.

And add that if a cellphone is in the car it's just as bad.
