Terry Jones: insane or what?

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2011/10/28...est=latestnews

This guy, Terry Jones, is just as wacked as the Democrat from yesterday. There should be some mechanism to limit these individuals from running for office... most everyone can get x-amount of signatures on a petition. I applaud his motivations and love of country, but there is more than meets the eye.

He seems to have a narcissistic need for attention which is pretty standard for people seeking the presidency and a "disturbed" view on religion while being superficial but this is all fairly common and not considered clinical insanity.

Should it be? That is a different question.

He may be just the knight in shining armor, the anti-Romney, that the GOP base has been waiting for. He certainly represents the nativist instincts of many in the GOP.

I do believe that the First Amendment permits people like Jones to have their say. Evidence that the First Amendment works it that such whack-jobs get exposed for what they are.

The only problem with letting such whack jobs have their say was that in Jones' case it amounted to shouting fire in a crowded theatre.

There you go again, Rob. Pointing out a crack in my First Amendment absolutist argument. You might just have a point - but I am not quite ready to concede that there is a better antidote to repugnant ideas than putting forth better ideas.

It does appear that the Rev. Jones is trying desperately to extend his fifteen minutes.
