Micheal Gerson is the type of political commentator who, by my political proclivities, I would expect to loathe. He was a speech-writer for Shrub, for gosh sakes. But I find many times that his columns strike a moral chord or demonstrate shared values. Maybe I just appreciated
this column because it provided cover for this fifty-something who occasionally finds moisture dribbling down his cheek from emotional circumstances. But I find that I look forward to reading his columns and Kathleen Parker's despite the likelihood that I will disagree with at least some of what each of them has to say.
Maybe our entire national political scene doesn't have to be a hate-fest. If I keep trying, maybe I can convince myself that Rush Limbaugh and the like are aberrations.
