Taylor believes the “replacement of whites by non-whites” is “the greatest long-term threat to conservatives.”
He may be right about that, but for reasons different than he posits. Demonizing people ain't exactly a great way to garner their votes.

The far right of the Republican Party is a little like most on this forum.
They surround themselves and associate with people who believe like they do and eventually greatly over estimate how many there are.
The religious zealots ruined the Republican Party leaving fiscal conservatives with no where to go.
Maybe they will shut the government down again and give the Democrats the house and senate back in the process.

The Senate is ours regardless along with the White House. The House will have to wait until after the next census.

Yep, the choice is now between Liberals and Lunatics. Respectable, decent conservatives like my uncle, a banker, a wonderfully optimistic man who supported his community, his church and local businesses have gone the way of the dinosaur. Now, the bulk of the Republicans I know don't fit the above description very well at all.

It truly is a sad thing.
