And just how much oil does the United States get from Libya? Check that and get back to me. The British draw more oil from them than we do. So let the Brits go after it.

What I want to know is why in the hell where we sending $30,000,000,000 in "aid" to that bastard? That's the question that seems to be slipping by.

Dave
It doesn't matter whether we buy their oil or not. Oil is a fungible commodity. What we buy or don't buy from them is irrelevant, as the difference just gets made up by those that do.

It's not an issue of left or right. Bombing their antiaircraft sites is an act of war. The issue is whether what's going on there rises to the level of us committing to yet another war in the Mideast.

BTW, it was Sec. Gates who said this to Congress. If we want to impose a no-fly zone there (and bomb their antiaircraft sites before doing so), the consensus is that we we have to do as part of a broader UN action with support from other Arab nations. Otherwise, we stand to lose more than we gain by doing so.

So, here we have a one world wet dream, with the various government organisations running around to and fro, just having the time of their lives hoping they can show they're really, really not nutless wonders, perhaps keeping a fruitcake from gassing his own people....

That's one way of putting it. Another is that we need to look at the long term cost/benefit of our action overseas. I'm not saying we shouldn't impose a no-fly zone (and bomb their antiaircraft sites beforehand), but that we should carefully weigh the consequences thereof before acting.

In other words, ready-aim-fire, not ready-fire-aim.

With starting yet another war in the middle east? Hell no!

And you would never get it past Rep Young from Florida, that cheap bastard won't even give General Petraeous the money he needs to protect our military in Afghanistan.

Not if it cuts into the budget for building unneeded and unwanted Humvees in his district.

That's kind of an affliction of the right, Rob. They always want America to flex its muscle around the world while bitching at others for not wanting to do the same.

I think it must having something to do with having a small pen........, er, manhood.
